Just in the outskirt of Palma de Mallorca, in an area called Marivent, you find the museo Pilar i Joan Miro. Situated on a hill you have splendid views over the bay of Cala Mayor. The building itself is very interesting, designed by the Rafael Moneo. The basic material is concrete, but through the mixing with other materials, you get the impression that it is actually sand stone. Light is coming through thin plates of marble, another very smart technique. In the museo you find many works from Joan Miro, and you can visit his studio, where he worked while living on Mallorca. The foundation is arranging workshops, there is educational programs and the foundation also assist artists through grants. There is a web site in English with all the details.
