Now and again you get the question if surfing is possible on
Mallorca. Tha answer is
yes
and no. After stormy weather, you get some shore break, and at
places where it builds up, you will se some local persons with
their board. The photo is taken at Sa Rapita, just next to the
Club Nautico. The month is June. A rare summer storm created some
good conditions. Normally you have to wait until spring or autumn
to get the right weather conditions. It is a question of
being there at the right time, somewhat difficult for the visitor
to the island. So if you are a keen surfer, Canary Islands could
be your next stop.
In
Paguera, on Tora beach you will find some
surfers when conditions are right. Also Cala Mayor beach.
Cala Masquida
near Cala Ratjada
Video. Son Balou, near Can Picafort
and Sa Marina are also places where you find surfers.
DeCathlon (
http://www.decathlon.es )
sports stores have some equipment. Surf wetsuits, body boards.
Some times you can will see a short board on display.
Check out
the weather conditions and look at web cams to help find the place
to go.
