VALLDEMOSSA

Valldemossa is a old village in the mountains. Here you find a monastery where the composer Chopin lived the winter 1838/39. The houses are constructed of stone. It is a cool place and in the winter you get snow from time to time. It is well worth visiting this place, walk the streets and visit the museum. La Beata is the saint protecting the village. All the houses have a small ceramic plate at the main entrance saying: Beata, pray for us!

There is 1 small hostel in Valldemossa, Ca'n Mario in C/. Uetam 8 Tel +34 971 612122 Fax +34 971 616029. Click here for photo. Price for a double room, 2 persons is 50 Euro ( 2003) . The tourist office is open 10-14 and 15-18 hours Saturday 10-13. There is great hiking in the mountains around Valldemossa. One trip can take you along the "Path of the Archduke" and then to Deia. An other popular trail is to the summit of Teix. Valldemossa is well connected to Palma and onward by public transport. Click here for time tables.

ES PORTALET - From this place there is a panorama view down to Port de Valldemossa. Nearby along the road you will pass Son Mas, an old estate with defence tower.

HERMITAGE OF THE TRINITY - Built in 17th century . Inhabited by hermits.

MIRADOR DES NIU DES CORB - Old inn, now apartments. The mirador is just next to apartments. Also called Mirador des Pi.

PORT DE VALLDEMOSSA - Small village with landing for boats, and 200 meters of beach-small stones.
