BANALBUFAR

Map

Banalbufar dates back to pre. Arab times. When Jaume I, and later King Juan de Aragon conquered the island , it was granted as a Barony. The economy was based on agriculture and wine. However the wine fields were all destroyed during the wine plague in  this century. Now tourism play an important role, also many houses have been made second home from residents from Palma and abroad. There are two interesting buildings to visit. The church, and "Sa Baronia". Both located near main street. During the middle age the coast was attacked many times by pirates, and more than 10 observation towers were build. The remaining are interesting places to visit.
