This section is a quick reference guide to Gran Canaria. You find descriptions of the major tourist resorts with  photos and maps. Also try the  Satellite PhotoLink to other web site

Canary Islands ares found in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Africa. It is Spanish territory, but you need to fly 1 hour from the south tip of the Iberian Peninsula to get there. The climate is excellent. Some say the best on this world. Summers are cool and winters warm. Sunshine almost guaranteed all year. The government of the islands has done a very good job to develop these Islands for tourism. Prices are very reasonable, and with flights getting cheaper all the time, this is likely to continue.

The main areas of Gran Canaria are: Las Palmas and the beach of Las Canteras. Here is a very good combination of beach, shopping and entertainment, and a major city. On the south coast you find the larges beaches of Playa Ingles and Maspalomas, and smaller beaches as well. Once you have rounded the South West corner, the coast is rocks and bays, offering spectacular views.

Getting there is by plane. From Continental European destinations a low cost carrier takes you there from 150 Euro, return,+ tax.. Flight tickets.  Accommodation can be found from 170-200 Euro for 2/3 pax, total price 7 nights (Self Catering). Car hire for 7 day you can find for 140 Euro. Offers can some times be found for less than 100. Holiday autos offer very good prices at present. Prices during X-mas and eastern are highest. Price examples are from  December 2003.
